About ICTRG

The Irish Charities Tax Reform Group is a membership organisation of over 140 Irish Charities working to increase funding to the sector through reform of the tax legislation as it applies to charitable, arts, community and voluntary organisations.

ICTRG was formed in 1991 and since then has organised a number of campaigns to optimise tax effective giving and reduce the tax burden on the sector.

We achieved a major breakthrough in 2001 with the introduction of a comprehensive system of tax relief for all donations (€250+ with no upper limit) to an Eligible Charity/Approved Body.

We’re now working to:

  • Remove the VAT burden on charities through the introduction of a VAT refund mechanism
  • Reduce the minimum donation eligible for tax relief to €100 with a view to eventually removing the minimum altogether
  • Extend tax relief to non cash donations (such as shares, securities, property)

Any charity can become a member of ICTRG – so join us and help us to help you through tax reform.
