Write a Letter to your local Representative

Every year Charities pay out €18 million in VAT. This is money which would be much better spent on those who need it most. And its money which, unlike most businesses, charities can't claim back. If you think this is unfair, you can help with the stroke of your pen.

A hand written letter to your local Representative is the strongest form of action you can take to support our VAT Campaign. Your Representatives are more likely to respond because you have taken the time and effort to sit down and write it.

What to include in your letter.

  1. Be sure to mention that you live in your Representative's constituency.
  2. Quote some facts from our campaign details web page
  3. Ask your Representative to write to the ICTRG to confirm their support
  4. Ask them send a copy of the letter to you.
  5. Be sure and thank your Representative for their support in a follow up letter.

Make a phone call to your local Representative

Why not make a follow up call to your local Representative to request their support for our campaign. It will take a few minutes and the potential benefits to those in need amount to an estimated €18 million.

What to say in a phone call

It's important that you express yourself in your own words, however we have included some pointers for you below.

  1. Give your full name mention that you live in your Representative's constituency.
  2. Say that you are calling because you support the Irish Charities Tax Reform Groups VAT campaign.
  3. Ask your Representative if they will support a call to the next Government to legislate for a fairer VAT refund mechanism for charities.
  4. Ask your Representative to communicate their support to the ICTRG.
  5. Be sure and thank them for their time support

We appreciate you taking the time and effort to support our Campaign. Please keep us informed if you contact any of your local Representatives or receive any responses from them.
