ICTRG 14th Annual Conference - "From Policy to Practice - Charity Regulation,” will be held on Wednesday 9th November at the Gresham, Dublin.

We are very pleased that the conference is once again supported by Triodos Bank.

In anticipation of the publication of new charities legislation early next year, the theme of the conference is “From Policy to Practice – Charity Regulation” and will focus in on what we can learn from the experience of our UK colleagues on the practical implications of:

  • Self-regulation of fundraising

  • Annual Returns – is the UK SORP an appropriate model for Ireland?

  • Special legal structures for charities

Emphasis will be placed on the lessons to be learned and pitfalls to avoid in developing the detail of our own regulatory system in Ireland.

The opening address will be given by Sean Fleming, Chairman of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance and the Public Service, on government policy in relation to charities and in particular taxation policy in the context of new legislation. Key speakers from the UK include Lindsay Boswell, CEO of the Institute of Fundraising, Luke Fitzherbert a director from the Directory of Social Change and Gavin Smith from Triodos Bank. Lorcan Colclough (Chairman Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants) and Patricia Rickard Clarke (Law Reform Commissioner) will provide us with an Irish perspective. The Conference will be chaired by Aine Lawlor from RTE’s “Morning Ireland” programme and Fintan Drury is our guest speaker.

The attached brochure gives full details of the conference programme and speakers and a separate registration/booking form is also attached. Places are limited so early booking is advisable given the interest in this topic.
